Her remarks have drawn sharp criticism from Naga Chaitanya’s father, veteran Telugu actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, who labeled the comments as “completely irrelevant and false.” Taking to social media, Nagarjuna condemned the minister’s statements, urging her not to use the personal lives of movie stars to target political opponents. “Please respect other people’s privacy,” he wrote, calling for a retraction of her allegations.

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu also responded strongly

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu also responded strongly, advising Konda Surekha to “be responsible and respectful of individuals’ privacy” and to refrain from dragging her into political conflicts. She reiterated her wish to be left out of such disputes and urged the minister to act more respectfully.

The controversy has also prompted a demand for an unconditional apology from BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao Thanneeru. He condemned Surekha’s remarks, accusing her of making baseless allegations against KT Rama Rao, son of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Ms. Surekha’s accusations went further, claiming that KT Rama Rao was responsible for driving many actresses out of the film industry by blackmailing them after introducing them to drugs. These serious charges have created a political storm, with both the film fraternity and BRS leaders calling for accountability and a public apology.
