According to Mid-Day, on February 28, an anonymous caller claimed to have planted bombs close to business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia and Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s residence. The call came into the Nagpur police control room.
The caller also allegedly stated that 25 people had arrived in Dadar, Bombay, carrying weapons in order to carry out terrorist acts in the commercial centre of India, according to officials.
The Mumbai Police acquired this information from the Nagpur Police as soon as they received the call, and the latter quickly sent out bomb squad teams to conduct searches throughout the entire area.
Notably, the Mumbai Police’s Crime Intelligence Unit detained 2 people in 2021 in relation to a hoax bomb threat that occurred at three railway stations and Amitabh Bachchan’s home. The culprits were taken into custody in Thane.
The Antilia bomb scare took place in February 2021 when a car carrying 20 gelatin sticks was found close to Mukesh Ambani’s home in Mumbai. The bomb scare is notable for the series of events that led to the resignation of several senior officials.
The car was found to belong to Thane-based car-decor shop owner Mansukh Hiren, who had reported it stolen the week prior. A week later, Hiren’s body was found in a Mumbai creek.
Key witness in the investigation, was allegedly murdered
Mansukh Hiren, a key witness in the investigation, was allegedly murdered by Sachin Vaze, a controversial cop and former Shiv Sena leader. Param Bir Singh, the commissioner of the Bombay police, has also been sacked following his NIA arrest.
The case has evolved as one of the most case of dispute in recent memory, beginning with the discovery of an explosives-packed car outside of Ambani’s home and ending with the resignation of the commissioner of the Mumbai Police.
