Johnny Depp, 59, has been spotted in Paris sporting a very new look for his first film role in nearly two years. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor shaved off his trademark goatee, even sporting braided hair along with a fringed suede jacket, aviator sunglasses, and a brown fedora while boarding a private jet.
The actor and part-time rock musician has been cast as King Louis XV in the film Jeanne du Barry, directed by French actress and filmmaker Maiwenn Le Besco.
This will be Depp’s first film since his highly publicised defamation lawsuit trial against ex-wife Amber Heard held in Fairfax, Virginia, in the United States.
In the early weeks following the trial, Depp was pictured at various locations around the UK with his trademark goatee, long hair, and dishevelled rock style. But in the past week, he has shaved off his facial hair, debuting a clean-faced new look at a gig in Helsinki, Finland.
In Paris, the braided hair made its debut but the boho rock and roll style is still very much in place – Depp even tied a printed scarf around an otherwise conservative-looking briefcase to jazz it up.
Recently, Mr. Depp’s representatives refuted the claims of him returning to Disney. Denying rumours that the actor signed a new $301 million deal with Disney, his representatives told NBC News that the reports of the actor returning as Captain Jack Sparrow to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise are “made up”.
Depp was awarded $US10 million in damages but had already left the US, flying to the UK to play with English musician Jeff beck, before the verdict was reached.
