Tanishaa S Mukerji: With pollution and plastic waste accumulating in every water body, some of the finest marine lives are getting highly endangered. One of these is the mangrove forest in Bandra’s Carter Road, a high-profile area which has shrunk from 6km to just half of it.
Bollywood’s Tanishaa S Mukerji who is a determined environmentalist, with her mother Tanuja Ma’am had taken up a mission to clear these mangroves of their garbage, along with her NGO ‘Stamp’ on the 17th of September which was International Coastal Cleanup Day.

She speaks about the plan, “The drive which turned out to be on a huge scale encouraged locals to come ahead and help out with the cleanup. Many organizations participated along with Stamp Foundation, the Indian Navy and a citizens group ‘Carter Cleanup’ in this clean-up drive.
The mangroves were over 6km and have reduced down to 3km and we are hoping that the cleanup helps to regenerate them along this area and then along the south coast. Garbage including plastic bags was wrapped around the roots of trees which were strangling them and we had to cut them off with knives to free the tree. “
Tanishaa S Mukerji’s NGO has been playing an incredibly active role in reviving and helping the environment in various ways. This mission went a long way in inspiring others as well to do their parts for the Earth.
