The plot
Paava Kadhaigal consists of 4 short films each focusing on different Topics. Be it the struggles faced by a Transgender in a remote area, Or the Taboo associated with same-sex marriage. Or the story of discrimination or caste system. Let’s take a look at the storylines of all 4 parts of the film, Separately. Focusing on each Topic in an in-depth manner.
Thangam
The first part of PAAVA KADHAIGAL is Thangam created by Sudha Kongara and is set in the 80s and basically showcases the life of Sathaar (Played by Kalidas Jayaram) who is a transgender. While he is constantly bullied by the villagers and not accepted by his own family as well. It’s the story of a difficult journey.

Love Panna Uttranum
This part touches upon the caste system as well as same-sex marriage. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, this part depicts the story of twin sisters, who are in love. while one of them is a lesbian,( Something the family wouldn’t approve of). In the process, one of the sisters loses her identity other Gets her freedom. This part of the film has the right amount of intimacy!
Vaan Magal
The third part of the film depicts the story of how a couple’s life changes after their daughter fall prey to a heinous crime. Vaan Magal is directed by Gautham Menon and he is playing the lead role in this one.
Oor Iravu
The last part of PAAVA KADHAIGAL talks about the brutal face of casteism and discrimination. Meanwhile, this story is of a pregnant woman who is accepted back by her father (Played by Prakash Raj), who brings her to their village home for a baby shower. Prakash Raj and Sai Pallavi’s performances are just commendable in this segment.
