Pakistani drama Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha continues to be at the top of its game with high ratings. Starring Wahaj Ali, Hania Aamir, and Zaviyar Nauman, the Pakistani drama airs on Ary Digital. It follows a love triangle between Areeb (Zaviyar), Maheer (Hania), and Saad (Wahaj). Complex love stories following star-crossed lovers are not a new thing for both Bollywood and Lollywood. However, this one particular show is hogging the limelight for its uncanny similarities with the Bollywood film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which starred Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn in lead roles. Many netizens are of the view that there are some elements in Mujhe Pyaar Hua The which have outright been copied from the Indian film. Scroll below to find more.
Is Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha copied from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?
Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha follows the story of Maheer who gets an impromptu marriage proposal from Areeb after spending some time with him at her cousin’s wedding. Initially unaware of her feelings, Maheer also begins falling for Areeb slowly and steadily. Well, if both are in love then what’s stopping them from being together? There’s a third guy — Saad — in the picture who also happens to be Maheer’s cousin. He has always dreamt of getting married to Maheer. However, Maheer, oblivious to his feelings, goes on to confess her feelings to Areeb who sends a proposal that Maheer’s mother cannot refuse. Areeb is head over heels for Maheer and it comes as a shock when he ditches Maheer at the altar. Now, Saad being the good boy that he is steps up to save Maheer from public humiliation and marries her. Now, both are in an unhappy marriage with Saad constantly trying to make things right with Maheer while she rejects his advances with equal intensity. Areeb, on the other hand, apologises for his action with a reason not reasonable enough to ditch the love of his life.
Now, the comparison from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam comes from the uncanny resemblance between Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) and Maheer (Hania Aamir)’s love lives. Both are ditched by their lovers to get married to a person they are not fond of due to familial pressure. Meanwhile, there’s also a commonality in the fact that Vanraj (Ajay Devgn), despite being in love with Nandini, tried to reunite her with Sameer (Salman Khan), and that’s exactly what Saad is doing here.
However, since Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha is currently on-air, it cannot be interpreted if both Nandini and Maheer are heading in the same direction. As of now, Maheer’s faith is hanging in balance with a complicated dynamic within her family itself.
Drop in Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha popularity
Despite featuring Wahaj Ali and Hania Aamir, both big names in Pakistani showbiz currently, Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha has seen a drop in its ratings and viewership. Many netizens have deemed the drama boring with the plot not going in any direction despite a month of its release.
