Filmmaker Kamlesh K Mishra’s upcoming feature film, Azamgarh, is based on real incidents related to terrorism. Pankaj Tripathi is featured on the film’s posters in the role of a Maulvi who leads young people to terrorism. However, when the actor found out that his name was being used to promote the film’s release, he became upset and plans to take legal action against the makers. Although Tripathi had worked on the short film five years ago in a cameo role, he was unaware of its release and did not expect to be associated with a project like Azamgarh.
Pankaj Tripathi did not want his name in the project
Tripathi became aware of Azamgarh’s OTT release only after seeing the posters for the film. The timing could not have been worse, as the actor is currently working on one of the most significant projects of his career, Oh My God 2. Tripathi’s association with a film like Azamgarh could negatively affect his reputation.
According to sources, Tripathi was led to believe that he was shooting for a short film and only worked on the project for three days. However, the makers of Azamgarh are using his name to promote the film as if he has a lead role in it. Tripathi worked on this project without payment and does not want his name to be used to promote the film. He has a small role in the film, and he believes that the makers’ decision to prominently display his face on the poster is inappropriate.
