Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone recently sent internet into a frenzy with Pathaan’s first song Besharam Rang. Deepika’s sensuous moves and Shah Rukh’s chiseled body was put on heavy display in the song. While some are completely swooning over the duo’s sizzling chemistry, the hot romantic number did not go well with a section of netizens. Amid the boycott trend, a few users have also brought to the notice how Deepika’s dusky skin has been whitewashed in the song.
Deepika’s skin whitewashed for Pathaan song Besharam Rang
An internet user who goes by the handle ‘PHOENIX’ shared some BTS photos from Pathaan song Besharam Rang. In the now-viral photos, Deepika was seen sporting a rather dusky skin tone in comparison to the song. In fact, the poster shared by the makers also showed Deepika flaunting a creamy white body in a yellow bikini. And those who follow Deepika know it is not her real skin tone as the actress often shares her unfiltered photos on the gram.
The internet user, meanwhile, also involved Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan who once revealed suffering heavy criticism due to her dusky skin. The user claimed how it is in contradictory to Suhana’s ‘rant’ about ending ‘colorism’.

Suhana Khan on facing discrimination due to her skin tone
In 2020, prior to the announcement of her debut film The Archies, Suhana Khan took to her Instagram space to share how she has ben told she is ugly because of her skin tone. Sharing a few happy pictures of herself flaunting her brown skin tone, Suhana in a powerful note wrote, “here’s a lot going on right now and this is one of the issues we need to fix!! this isn’t just about me, it’s about every young girl/boy who has grown up feeling inferior for absolutely no reason. Here are just a few of the comments made about my appearance. I’ve been told I’m ugly because of my skin tone, by full grown men and women, since I was 12 years old. “
She further added, “Other than the fact that these are actual adults, what’s sad is that we are all indian, which automatically makes us brown – yes we come in different shades but no matter how much you try to distance yourself from the melanin, you just can’t. Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure. I’m sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking or even your own families have convinced you, that if you’re not 5″7 and fair you’re not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I’m 5″3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism”
About Pathaan
Pathaan is set to release on January 23, 2023. Directed by Siddharth Aanand, the film will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s return to silver screen after four years. Aside from Deepika and SRK, the film will also stars John Abraham in the leading role.
