Payal Ghosh issues unconditional apology to Richa Chadha in defamation case

Actress Payal Ghosh recently issued an unconditional apology to Richa Chadha before Bombay HC after a suit filed by the later. The HC accepted the apology on Wednesday wherein Payal had stated that she has withdrwan all the defamatory and derogatory statements.

The apology was accepted by a single bench of justice A.K. Menon.

Ms. Ghosh’s statement in court said, “She withdraws her statements and defamatory posts pertaining to the plaintiff (Ms. Chadha) as mentioned vide the current interim application and suit, including without limitation her statements and defamatory posts vide the interview to the plaint and unconditionally apologises to the plaintiff.”

“She undertakes to delete all her above statements and defamatory posts against the plaintiff on Twitter and other media where she has published the same and further also undertakes not to state, make, publish and/or republish any defamatory, insulting, humiliating statements against the plaintiff at any time in perpetuity, related to the subject matter of the present interim application in any manner and/or for any purpose.”

After her apology, Richa Chadha’s team issued a statement expressing pleasure.

The statement read as, ”Richa Chadha is elated with the outcome of the Case and is thankful to the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. The Bombay High court has accepted the consent terms as an undertaking to the Hon’ble Court in the Suit with Payal Ghosh giving Richa Chadha an unconditional apology and withdrawal of all statements defamatory posts also including videos and also agreeing not to state, make, publish, republish any defamatory, insulting, humiliating statements against Richa Chadda related to the subject matter of the Suit and/or any issue, dispute, complaint, suit, action, controversy, nefarious activity and/or criminal activity between Payal Ghosh and any person/party.”

They further added, ”The case with Kamaal R Khan continues while his statement is already recorded by the Hon’ble Court that he has no intention of repeating his tweets and that he will not make any similar remarks or the statement made by Payal Ghosh on Twitter or any other media, while the news channel has agreed to withdraw its videos from all its platforms and has agreed not to republish them along with agreeing for an injunction against them. A John Doe/Ashok Kumar order has also been granted to withdraw with immediate effect from their respective publications all defamatory statements, videos, tweets and/or defamatory statements of Payal Ghosh, the news channel and KRK. The suit for damages against The news channel and KRK continues.”

Recently, Payal took to her Twitter handle and wrote, ”Our consent term with certain conditions has been finalised, filed & accepted by Hon’ble High Court as an amicable settlement. No one wins no one lost. It’s a case of win-win.”
