The film grossed a stunning Rs 500 crore globally. Since then, fans have eagerly anticipating the release of the historical drama’s sequel. Ponniyin Selvan: II will be released in theatres in April of this year, according to recent announcements. Lyca Productions announced on Tuesday that it will be shown in IMAX theatres.

Ponniyin Selvan’s producers revealed the release date for the highly awaited sequel to Mani Ratnam’s film on Tuesday. It will be released in IMAX theatres globally on April 28, 2023. The Cholas are returning to the silver screen, according to Lyca Productions.
Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam’s ambitious endeavour, is a film version of novelist Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Tamil novel of the same name, which was launched as a series in the 1950s. Among the cast members of the historical drama are Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prabhu.
