Ponniyin Selvan 2: Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan I, commonly known as PS 1, was the highest box office hit in 2022. The first instalment was launched on September 30 and grossed Rs 400 crores worldwide. The story, acting performances, and photography of the film were all highly commended. Makers revealed releasing date of Ponniyin Selvan 2
Lyca Productions, the film’s producers, came to Twitter and uploaded a video announcing the release date of Ponniyin Selvan 2. PS 2 will be released in theatres globally on April 28, 2023. The Cholas will return, promising to break box office records once more. The makers wrote on Twitter, “Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!”
Star cast of PS 2
The star-studded ensemble from PS 1 will return in PS 2. The cast will remain unchanged, as the sequel will pick up where the first installment left off. PS 2 stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayam Ravi in lead roles. Other supporting actors in this period action drama include Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Lal, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
PS 2 Story/Plot
The first instalment ended on a cliffhanger, with a glimpse of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Oomai Rani. The second instalment is likely to focus more on her character. The film will continue to follow Arulmozhi Varman on his road to become Rajaraja Chola I, the Chola empire’s greatest emperor. The second instalment is also likely to focus on Vikram aka Aditya Karikalan’s flashback tale. Ponniyin Selvan’s romance with Oomai Rani, played by Aishwarya Rai, will also be explored in the sequel.
