Pradeep Sarkar funeral: On Friday, friends and colleagues of the late filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar gathered at his Mumbai residence to pay their respects. The filmmaker passed away at Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra, Mumbai at the age of 67. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter to share a statement informing the public of Sarkar’s passing and invited them to attend the funeral at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium at 4 pm.

Several members of the film industry including Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan with husband Sidharth Roy Kapur, Rani Mukerji, Dia Mirza, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rhea Chakraborty, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Gajraj Rao, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Sakshi Tanwar were in attendance at the crematorium in Mumbai to pay their respects to the departed filmmaker and offer their condolences to his family.
Rani Mukerji, who had worked with Sarkar on Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Mardaani, shared that she had recently spoken to the filmmaker a few days before his passing. He had called to congratulate her on her latest movie, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Mukerji expressed her shock and sadness at the news of his passing and shared how she was unable to video call with him due to a poor network connection.

Pradeep Sarkar made his feature directorial debut with Parineeta, which starred Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. He had also directed popular music videos and commercials before venturing into films.
