The Kashmir Files has received harsh criticism from actor Prakash Raj, who referred to it as “one of the nonsense movies.” At a recent event, Prakash also criticised the movie’s director, Vivek Agnihotri, and referred to the movie’s producer as “shameless.” Additionally, he asserted that The Kashmir Files is a “propaganda film.”
One of the most profitable films of 2022 was Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. The movie, which was written by Vivek and made by Zee Studios, shows the 1990s flight of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir. Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi were among the actors who featured in the movie. The film was produced in collaboration with Zee Studios by Pallavi Joshi and Abhishek Agarwal.
Here’s what Prakash Raj said about The Kashmir Files
Last weekend in Kerala, Prakash spoke about the film at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters. Prakash Raj said that, “The Kashmir Files is one of the stupid films, but we know who made it, Shameless. A jury from abroad spat on them. They continue to be shameless. The filmmaker, the other person, is still asking, ‘Why am I not getting an Oscar?’ He won’t even receive a Bhaskar.”
He said, “I tell you because there is a sensitive media out there. You can make a propaganda movie here. I know very well that they spent close to 2000 crore, based on my sources, just to produce movies like this. However, you can’t always trick people.” The Kashmir Files was criticised as “vulgar” and “propaganda” by Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid last year during the closing ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India.
“The fifteenth film, The Kashmir Files, frightened and worried us all. That appeared like a vulgar, propaganda film that had no place in such a prestigious film festival’s aesthetic competition. I’m entirely at ease speaking my feelings with you on stage. In keeping with the festival’s concept, a critical debate is possible, which is vital for both art and daily life.” In his speech, he had remarked.
