The rumour mill has been abuzz with speculation that the renowned actor Prakash Raj is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, the outspoken critic of the ruling government has put these rumours to rest with a tongue-in-cheek tweet that left no room for doubt.
Just minutes before he was allegedly set to join the saffron party, Prakash Raj took to Twitter to address the speculation. With his characteristic wit, he tweeted, “I guess they tried (laughing emojis); must have realised they were not rich enough (ideologically) to buy me (squinting face with tongue out emoji)… what do you think friends…just asking.”
Prakash Raj’s Tryst with Politics
Prakash Raj’s association with politics is not new. In the 2019 general elections, he contested as an independent candidate from Bengaluru Central, although he was unsuccessful in his bid.
Earlier this year, the actor revealed that three political parties had approached him to be their candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, not because of his ideology but because of his critical stance towards the union government. However, Prakash Raj stated that he did not want to “get into the trap.”
Supporting Causes Close to His Heart
Apart from his acting prowess, Prakash Raj has also been vocal about causes he believes in. Recently, he extended his support to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike in Ladakh, demanding statehood for the region and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
Upcoming Projects
While Prakash Raj continues to make his mark in the political arena, his fans can look forward to his upcoming projects. He will be seen in the highly anticipated films “Devara” and “Pushpa 2: The Rule.”
