Prey on Hotstar: Prey, the recent release in the Predator franchise, showcases a different take on the iconic killer alien. Prey’s teasers show off a new kind of Predator, one with a more understated appearance meant to facilitate a cat-and-mouse hunt than the sequels’ more ambitious iterations. While the Predator essentially resembles earlier versions of the creature, various tweaks have been made to make it a more suitable danger for Prey’s particular context.
Unlike the previous movies, which are futuristic, sci-fi thrillers, Prey takes place in North America in the early 1700s.
In order to save hostages in guerrilla-held territory in a Central American rainforest, the movie follows Schwarzenegger’s Dutch, the leader of an elite paramilitary rescue team. On their mission, they run into the deadly Predator, a cunning, technologically advanced alien who stalks and hunts them down.
The movie is regarded as one of the best in its genre from the 1980s. Its blockbuster status and financial success led to the creation of a franchise that included additional movies, comic books, video games, and crossover events with other well-known movies, most notably Ridley Scott’s Alien series. The legendary extraterrestrial first appeared in Predator 2 (1990), followed by Predators (2010), The Predator (2018), Alien vs. Predator (2004), and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007).
With each new entry in the game, the Predator gradually gained a wide-ranging mythos and unique history around its species. Through the Predator species’ tradition of comic book expansions, a name for the species was soon provided.
Prey is now available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
