The usage of Bollywood film director and producer Karan Johar’s name in a movie’s title has infuriated him. In this instance, Karan Johar filed a complaint with the Bombay High Court on Wednesday, asking that the creators of the Hindi movie “Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar” refrain from using his name in the film’s title. It is believed that the director has used Karan Johar’s name only as a publicity stunt because this case will give a lot of attention to the film.

Karan Johar Claims No Connection with the Film

The filmmaker has asked for an instant stop on the movie’s distribution in a petition that was submitted to a bench of Justice RI Chagla. The movie is scheduled to open on June 14, 2024. The petition will be heard on Thursday, the bench decided. In response to the producers utilizing his name in the movie’s title, the petition asks for a restraining order and a permanent stay. Karan Johar asserted that he is unrelated to the movie or its producers, who are using his name in the title unlawfully.

According to Karan Johar, his name is included in the movie’s title, which is a violation of his privacy, publicity, and personal rights. He said that the producers are taking advantage of his notoriety and goodwill by utilizing his “brand name” without his consent.

The film will be released on June 14

The lawsuit emphasized that the movie is slated for release on June 14 and that social media and public spaces have been trending with the trailer and advertising. According to Karan Johar, his image and goodwill are suffering irreversible harm from these advertising materials.
