New Delhi: 2O22 hasn’t exactly been the year of Bollywood. So much so that even star power couldn’t save many big-budget films with promising plots. However, with the monumental success of Brahmastra, table seems to have turned for the Hindi film industry. Not only the film pulled crowd to theatres, it also paved the way for Bollywood producers to dream big. Now, seems like good days are finally back for Bollywood as Akshay Kumar’s latest offering Ram Setu has managed to mint in double digits at the box office.
Ram Setu Box Office Collection Day 1
Ram Setu released in theatres on October 25 with mixed reactions from audience and critics alike. On its first day at the box office, the film raked in Rs 15 crore, becoming Akshay Kumar’s best opener of this year. His films Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan tanked at the box office after releasing in theatres, while his last offering Cuttputli had an OTT release. As per media reports, the film performed exceedingly well in the UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat markets. Outperforming expectations, Ram Setu has bagged the second biggest opening of the year, after only Brahmastra – Part One: Shiva, which was released on September 9 in Hindi and many regional languages.
Ram Setu vs Thank God
The Akshay Kumar starrer had a box office clash with Siddharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet starrer Thank God. While both the films boasted on high star power, Ram Setu managed to win the box office race. In comparison to Rs 15 crore raked by Ram Setu on Day 1, Thank God minted Rs 9.5 crore at the box office.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Ram Setu also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha in pivotal roles. The film sees Akshay Kumar as an archaeologist who races against time to investigate whether Ram Setu is a myth or reality. For the unversed, Ram Setu is a bridge built by the god Rama’s army of Vanara to reach Lanka to rescue his wife Sita after her abduction by Ravana.
