Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga was one of the most talked-about movies of the previous year. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga talked in several interviews about the controversies around the film bt any of the cast members didn’t address it till now. But now, the film’s cast, which includes Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor, spoke in-depth about the film’s violent and dark world during an interview with Anubhav Singh Bassi after it was released on Netflix on January 26.
Ranbir Kapoor on ‘Animal Park’
Will Animal have a sequel? Has Animal Park undergone any developments? Yes. Ranbir mentioned that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had two narrated scenes about Animal Park ready. Not much is known about him because he keeps his scripts very private. However, Ranbir says that he should feel empowered to pursue more “darker, deeper, and complex” projects in light of Animal’s success.
Ranbir on ‘toxic masculinity’
The Filmfare Awards 2024 Winner spoke about the controversy around the film regarding ‘toxic masculinity.’ He said, “There is a very healthy conversation that has started about toxic masculinity also, which is a great thing because cinema, at least, it starts a conversation. If something is wrong, if you don’t show that it is wrong, and unless conversation starts in the society, we will never realise it.”
On doing action sequences
Ranbir responded, “No, because this was the first chance I got to do action like this,” when Bobby Deol asked him if he got tired from filming so much action in Animal. Since you two have done so many action movies, technically this is my first movie. “It seems like you’ve let go of all the frustration here,” Bobby continues. “Yes, everything!” Says Ranbir. Ranbir Kapoor elaborated on the action in Animal by saying that Sandeep Reddy Vanga has a special talent for filming action. Unlike other directors, he places an action sequence in the midst of his films. However, Sandeep weaves a tale into that action scene.
He added, “The interval sequence has a graph. The climax fight where he used B Praak’s song, I think that’s very novel. While audience is watching the film, they like the fact that this isn’t a typical action film. Every moment has an originality and a meaning.”
