Zara Patel Discovers Deepfake Video Misuse
“Hi all, it has come to my attention that someone created a deepfake video using my body and a popular Bollywood actress’s face. I had no involvement with the deepfake video, and I’m deeply disturbed and upset by what is happening,” the British-Indian influencer said in an Instagram story. Not everything on the internet is real.”
Deepfake Video Misleads Viewers
Recently, a video that seemed to show Rashmika Mandanna entering a lift went viral. But Zara Patel, not Mandanna, was the woman in the deepfake video. People are expressing concern related to women safety and the rise of AI. A Tweeter account named Rashmika Delhi Fans shared a post with a caption, “Rashmika is not the first girl about whom such a fake video was made. Nor is she the first actress on whom such a video has been made and made viral. But no one talked about it before. By raising her voice on this issue on behalf of all those girls, #RashmikaMandanna has taken this matter to such a platform from where we can expect that the government will look into this issue and take some strict action against it. We want to thank @iamRashmika on behalf of all those girls who have had to endure a lot because of this #Deepfake video. Seeing Rashmika, some other actresses have also raised their voice. But all the actresses will have to come together in this matter. If no action is taken in this matter, such videos will continue to exist. We hope that everyone will raise their voice for this.”
