RRR 2 sequel: Director S.S. Rajamouli confirms part 2 of the superhit flick

RRR sequel: A sequel to the hit Indian action film RRR is being developed. Director S.S. Rajamouli told a section of media that the story for RRR 2 was being worked upon.

According to reports, Rajamouli said his father screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad, who has written all of Rajamouli’s films so far, was working on the story of the RRR sequel. “My father is the story writer for all my films. We discussed a bit about [RRR 2] and he’s working on the story,” said Rajamouli during a recent screening of the film in Chicago this past weekend.

Fans excited

Yet Though it would be a bit premature to say anything with conviction or to provide more details like casting and plot of the film, Rajamouli’s fans are excited nevertheless. Social media is abuzz with the news.

The original film premiered in March 2022 and was the highest budget ever for an Indian film ($72 million). The film was a blockbuster and received universal acclaim for its direction, writing, and performances. The film went on to earn more than ₹1,200 crore ($175.4 million) worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing Indian film ever, as well as breaking the highest opening-day box office performance for an Indian film.

Indian revolutionaries

RRR is based on the story of two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR respectively, who become friends in the film and fight side by side against the British Raj.

Set in the 1920s, the film explores the mostly unknown period of their lives as they go into obscurity before beginning their fight against the British.

The film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, amongst others.
