RRR: Director SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan has emerged as a global phenomenon. After an impressive box office run worldwide, where it grossed $145 million, the film debuted in Japan with much fanfare on October 21. Living up to the hype, the Indian extravaganza has taken the Japanese box office by storm.

RRR released across 209 screens and 31 IMAX screens in Japan across 44 cities. In just one week of its release, the film has minted JPY 73 million (Rs 4 crore). According to Variety, the film has gained top spot for the highest first week collections for an Indian film in Japan. The film managed to find a spot for itself in the Top 10, nine of which were local films. RRR was ahead of other big foreign releases in Japan including The Bad Guys and Spencer among others.

Around the film’s Japan release, team RRR had jetted off to the the country. Later, he also took to Instagram to sum his experience in Japan. Actor Ram Charan had taken to his Instagram space to sum up his experience in the country.
RRR Global Box Office Success
RRR has earned Rs 1200 crores at the global box office, receiving worldwide attention and praises from even the Hollywood filmmakers. Reacting to film’s exceptional performance in the West, Rajamouli said he didn’t the monumental success coming. The filmmaker said Covid-19 pandemic played a vital role in the film’s rage across the globe. “When everything got shut down, the whole world started looking into different cultures, absorbing content from different countries, in different languages.” He also stated that “RRR’s unapologetic action sequences; its unapologetic heroism” also led to film’s success in the west.
