Does being physically abled bar one from embarking on a spiritual journey? There are various elements that constitute the overall spiritual growth and our sensory organs play a vital role in this holy journey. However, if any of these organs fail short of their capabilities, does that mean a hindrance in awakening? Jaggi Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru, has termed sound as an important element in spiritual growth. However, it doesn’t mean a person who has a hearing aid will have a tougher journey on the path of spiritualism.
Sadhguru says ‘Silence is the mother of all sounds’
A person recently told Sadhguru that he has a hearing disability and tends to miss words. Since sound plays an instrumental role in spiritual awakening, the man wanted to know if he’d miss out on enlightenment. Answering his query, Sadhgru said “Not at all. It’s easy for you to be silent. And since is the mother of all sounds.”
He told the man that he is saved from all the accusations and comments in the world. Sound has a deeper connection with mind and body. The yoga guru added that he is making more into your system through visual apparatuses.
‘Do not complain about everything that is life’
Sadhguru believes there are multiple things a man will face in a lifetime. And, it’s important to embrace everything that comes along the way with open hands. A negative attitude towards life could possibly be one of the reasons why you are lady haven’t embarked on your spiritual journey.
Sadhguru further noted that there are a lot of people who have to plug their ears to experience silence. Not being able to head is a blessing as you cannot hear “all the nonsense and cacophony” that’s going on around the world.
“Many people, when they are out in the world, wish that they could not hear. The planet was never as noisy as it is today,” he said.

What you have is enough
Sadhguru further said that what you have is enough. Nothing is lost if you cannot speak or smell. In fact, it becomes easier to meditate as you have considerably less disturbance. “If you have no legs, you will do great. If you have no ears, you will do great. If you have no eyes, you will do great because you do not even have to close your eyes – just meditate,” he said.
