Alia Bhatt starrer filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will release on February 25 this year. The makers have officially announced the release date of the film.
Earlier this film was to be released on 6 January. But during this time producer SS Rajamouli’s much awaited period drama ‘RRR’ was about to be released. Due to which it was decided to release ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ on 18 February. However, in view of the third wave of Corona, suspense remained on the release of this film as a precaution. But the makers have confirmed that the film will be released in theaters next month.
Alia has played an important role opposite actor Ajay Devgn in the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Bhansali and Devgn have teamed up again after 22 years of working together in the 1999 blockbuster ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
Alia Bhatt is in the role of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The story is based on the life of Madam Gangubai Kathiawadi of a brothel in Kamathipura and is based on a chapter from the book ‘Mafia Queens’ by Hussain Zaidi of Mumbai. This is the first time that Bhansali has directed Alia.
Apart from this movie, Alia is also a part of ‘RRR’. She will also be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
