Shah Rukh Khan: In their upcoming action flick, Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham will be at odds. In the midst of rumours regarding their real-life feud, Shah Rukh recently spoke out about working with John. He described John as a “national treasure” for refusing to punch him throughout the session. Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, stars Shah Rukh as Pathaan, a soldier who is called to take down a terrorist outfit led by John Abraham. Deepika Padukone is accompanying Shah Rukh on his mission.
Now, speaking of the film, Shah Rukh gave his thoughts on John having a negative part in a chat session posted on Yash Raj Film’s YouTube channel. He described how he met John when he moved to Mumbai and how they became friends. Shah Rukh described John as “shy, very quiet, and repulsive,” and expressed interest in seeing him in Pathaan.
Shah Rukh Khan praised John Abraham
“I met him several times when he was doing a picture or we wanting to do a film together and this happened per coincidence. I was desperate for him to do it, and he was gracious enough to play a villain. He is a movie star. He has his own franchises and these really amazing action flicks going on, so deciding to take on a project where he is a terrible guy takes a lot of guts,” he continued. While most stars decline to play antagonists in films, Shah Rukh said John Abraham is an exception. “It takes a lot of self-confidence, especially in the Hindi film scenario. Heroes do not play villains. I’d love to portray a villain. I developed a strong admiration for him.”
“Working with him was enjoyable, and I realized he is a gentle giant. You remember when we were acting and everything? He says…he called me a national treasure and promised not to hurt me. I said you could, and it’s fine. He is quite shy, and I had to persuade him that it’s okay to punch me and I won’t get hurt. I believe he is quite skilled in action. He definitely helped me seem good in terms of body language. He was really thoughtful. When working on a project with a co-star like John, I believe there is a lot to learn from him.” said King Khan.
