Shantanu Maheshwari seems to be living up to the maxim ‘the first impression is the last impression’. The actor bagged ‘Emerging Star Of Cinema’ for his stellar debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi at Bollywood Film Journalists Awards. The star boy packed his charm in the role of Afshan, a tailor smitten by Gangubai (the madame of Kamathipura) essayed by Alia Bhatt.
Shantanu attracted praises and acclaim for his holding his own in a movie that starred the biggest names and stalwarts such as Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, and Jim Sarbh. The promising actor brought the romance of a golden era to the Bhansali directorial. The film showcased his maturity as an actor and his sparkling chemistry with Alia. The reel love story of Alia and Shantanu is one of the most endearing subplots of the film.
Shantanu Maheshwari says, “I feel honoured with this award for my first debut film. This recognition is super special. I thank my family and audience for their constant support and love. The journey has just begun for me. I am grateful to Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir who had faith in me and offered me the role of Afshan.”
