Shark Tank India became a nationwide phenomenon instantly after its release. The show catered something new to the Indian audience, facilitating a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase the best of their talent. The judges’ panel comprised of successful entrepreneurs such as Ashneer Grover, Peyush Goyal, Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, and Anupam Mittal. The two seasons of the reality show saw these judges, often referred to as sharks, heavily investigating into small businesses in exchange for their equity, while also promising unwavering support and guidance in the journey forward. While the viewers could have only imagined a successful future for the budding entrepreneurs, also called pitchers, under the supervision of multi-talented judges, some shocking details have been unraveled.
Founders share ordeals
Recently, a media report suggested that 12 start-up founders are yet to receive funds from judges despite striking a deal. These start-up founders have now gone public to share their ordeals. According to a report by India Today, a start-up founder anded Rahul and secured a deal on Shark Tank India Season from Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com. Rahul said that he has still not received any funding as there have been fundamental disagreements over what was agreed on the show and he has been told that his business is not viable.
Another founder, Kunal, was successful in meeting the shark who had offered him an investment, but there was delay in the final settlement. “When we asked why there was a delay and how the deal could be taken ahead, we were told that a one-hour meeting — referring to the Shark Tank pitch — cannot tell a shark enough about the business,” he revealed.

A new season of Shak Tank India is on the cards. The maker has recently announced that registration for the third season is now open. It remains to be seen if the show will boast of the same cast or if some changes will be made.
