In a recent interview, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore discussed her feelings over her daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor‘s latest movie, ‘Crew,’ on the ‘Dil Se Kapil Sabil’ YouTube channel. While criticising the con-comedy for its ‘absurd’ plot, Tagore applauded the movie for its original take on women-centric escapades.
Plot and Camaraderie
Regarding the movie’s storyline, Sharmila Tagore remarked, Tagore said, ‘It is absurd, of course, beyond belief but there are three women pulling off this adventure. One is landing a plane, one is breaking a safe. Doing all kinds of things together and the camaraderie between the three is excellent because they say a woman is a woman’s worst enemy, not so here.’
Kareena Kapoor on Breaking Barriers
One of the key actors in ‘Crew,’ Kareena Kapoor, also expressed her joy at the movie’s box office performance. She emphasised that the movie’s box office performance is evidence of the shifting attitudes in the industry towards female-driven movies. ‘We have done a business of over Rs 150 crore. That in itself is a validation that today there is no gender bias. We are trying to break those norms,’ Kareena told PTI.
Significance of ‘Crew’ in Bollywood
Kareena highlighted that films are a kind of entertainment that have the ability to convey important ideas. ‘Crew’ has effectively disproved conventional gender prejudices in Bollywood by demonstrating that women can take the lead and shatter box office records.
Upcoming Projects
Kareena Kapoor is looking forward for the release of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’and Hansal Mehta’s ‘Buckingham Murders’ while ‘Crew’ continues to create waves on Netflix.
