76th Primetime Emmy Awards: The night of Sunday was nothing short of excitement, thrill and win. Many records were broken and created, the Asians showed off their creativity in style and bagged big on the world stage. The American historical drama series, Shogun stunned everyone when it broke the record of being the most-awarded series in a year. Shogun grabbed a whopping 18 Emmy Awards including all the major awards. The Bear and Baby Reindeer also had a massive night. Here are all the top winners.
Shogun wins 18 Primetime Emmy Awards
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards was nothing less than a massive showdown among some spectacular TV series. Among all the amazing dramas, Showgun emerged as a showstopper. With a legendary win of ‘Best Drama,’ Shogun took a record-breaking 18 awards home including ‘Lead Actor and Actress’ in a drama series. Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada became the only second Asian actor to win the Best Actor award after Lee Jung Jae in 2022 for Squid Game. He gave his acceptance speech in Japanese which captured the hearts of Asian fans. The Lead Actress Award was won by none other than Shogun actress, Anna Sawai. Shogun is based on James Clavell’s novel of the same name.
Other Winners at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards
Apart from Shogun, The Bear became the most-awarded comedy series in a single season. Even though the drama couldn’t win the Best Comedy Series Award, it clinched 11 tremendous awards at the event. Hacks won the Best Comedy Series Award over The Bear. Baby Reindeer, a British psychological Black Comedy Drama thriller also had a great night at the Awards. The controversial series received the Best Limited or Anthology Series award. The Daily Show won the Outstanding Talk Series Award and the famous reality show The Traitors won the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
Jeremy Allen White won the Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear. Jean Smart won the Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks. Elizabeth Debicki known for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown, won Best Supporting Actress for it.
