The Guardian reported that American actor Christian Oliver, who was of German descent and spent 30 years in Hollywood, died in a plane crash off the shore of a Caribbean island on Thursday. Oliver had featured in films with Tom Cruise and George Clooney. In the collision, his two daughters also perished.
Authorities said that Oliver (51), whose real name is Christian Klepser, and his children were in a single-engine aircraft that took off from the Bequia Island airfield in St. Vincent and the Grenadines at approximately 12:10 p.m. local time. According to the Royal St. Vincent and Grenadines police force, the aircraft was headed to St. Lucia when it had unknown problems shortly after takeoff, which caused it to crash into the ocean.
Medical staff declared them dead
Fishermen, scuba divers, and Coast Guard personnel hurried to the scene of the disaster and retrieved the bodies of the four people on board: Oliver (51), his daughters Annik (10) and Madita Klepser (12), as well as Robert Sachs, the plane’s owner and pilot. The on-site medical staff declared them all dead. The victims were taken by boat to a nearby mortuary by the coast guard, and as of Friday, autopsies were still pending to ascertain the precise circumstances of death.
