Suriya opts out of Bala’s Vanangaan after change in script, director issues statement

Suriya is one of the most popular actors in Tollywood. The actor has delivered many critically acclaimed films including national-award winner Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim. Currently, he is shooting for Siva’s yet to be titled film and Vetrimaaran’s Vaadivasal. Recently, it was also reported that actor will also feature in Vanangaan directed by Bala. However, the latest report suggest that the actor has opted out of the project.

Suriya opts out of Bala’s Vanangaan

Bala took to social media to confirm the news and stated that Suriya has opted out of Vanangaan. Citing creative differences, the actor said that the project is still very much on with some different actor. The directed stated that Suriya opted out of the project post changes in the script. Keerthy Suresh will be seen as the leading lady in the film. Assuring there was no rift between the actor and director, Bala said that he hopes to work with Suriya sometime in future.

In a statement written in Tamil, Bala said, “I wanted to direct Vanangaan with my younger brother, Suriya. However, after a few changes in the story, I wasn’t sure if the project was suitable for someone like him. Suriya had complete trust in me, but it was my duty, as an elder brother, to not put him in such a tricky situation. So, both Suriya and I have decided that it is in the best interests of everyone involved that he should opt out of the project. In fact, Suriya was very upset about this decision, but this is done for the greater good of my brother.”

Bala says will work with Suriya again

Bala also assured fans that he will collaborate with Suriya again, and wrote, “The Suriya that I saw in Nandha; the Suriya that you saw in Pithamagan, we both will get together something similar at the right time, for sure.”
