The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death from Bihar police on Friday. It has also collected the case diary and related documents in connection with the alleged suicide of the actor. The documents were handed over to CBI by investigating officer ASP Anil Kumar Yadav, as per the procedure.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s case was handed over to CBI by the centre on Thursday, based on a FIR filed by Sushant Sigh Rajput’s father K.K.Singh against actor Rhea Chakraborty, accusing her of abetment of actor’s suicide.
The case will be probed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Superintendent of Police Nupur Prasad and will be supervised by Deputy Inspector General Gagandeep Gambhir and Joint Director Manoj Shashidahr, both senior IPS officers of the Gujarat cadre.
Rhea Chakraborty, on the other hand, was quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate on Friday. According to a report of Times of India, Rhea was ‘not co-operating’ with the officers in their investigation.
Besides Rhea, her brother Showik, father Indrajit and former manager Shruti Modi were also called by ED for questioning.
Meanwhile, in a statement to Times Now, SSR’s family lawyer Vikas Singh said that Rhea “can be arrested” if she refuses to answer questions asked by the officers. “Now that she has decided to finally come forward in the interrogation, if she answered questions properly then probably she may be allowed to go. If she evades answers today, then she can also be arrested.”
Sushant was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14. While the Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) into the actor’s death, the Patna police had registered a case on a complaint from Sushant’s father, KK Singh, against Rhea Chakraborty, her family members Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, and Showik Chakraborty, former manager Shruti Modi and house manager Samuel Miranda.
