The latest updates in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case seems to have gotten as mysterious as ever. After late actor’s father filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, his former therapist, Susan Walker, has come out in her support.
In an interview to Barkha Dutt, Susan opened about Sushant’s medical condition, adding that Rhea had been his biggest support throughout. While addressing the media, she mentioned that she decided to breach confidentiality given the reckless media coverage around mental health and allegation against Rhea Chakraborty who “gave him courage to seek help”.
Susan said that Sushant was suffering terribly during his “bouts of depression and hypomania” and also added that he had bipolar disorder. “Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder. Symptoms can include severe anxiety. Mental health is no different to cancer or diabetes. Appalling stigma around mental health makes it difficult for patients,” Susan said.
Susan also shared she met Rhea and Sushant over multiple sessions in November 2019 and said that he depended on Rhea “as somewhat of a mother figure.” “Rhea gave Sushant courage to attend the sessions. The treatment that Rhea has received on social media is deeply shocking to me,” she added.
She also said the “misinformation and conspiracy theories” circulating around internet made it her “duty to make a statement”. Susan also added that Sushant was fearful of the stigma around mental health and his tragic demise should be a lesson to one and all to get rid of the taboo associated with it.
Sushant was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14. The cause of his death was revealed to be asphyxia due to hanging. While reports made round that he was suffering from severe anxiety, a major section of the country, including Sushant’s family have refused to believe that the actor took his own life.
The Mumbai police has quizzed more than 40 people in connection with Sushant’s death but haven’t been able to trace any foul play. Meanwhile, after one and a half month of actor’s death, his father, K.K. Singh, filed an FIR in Patna against Rhea Chakraborty, for abetment of suicide.
Rhea and her lawyer have refuted the allegations and has sought to transfer the case from Patna to Mumbai. Supreme Court will consider the plea on August 5.
