Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters, Priyanka and Meetu Singh, have filed a petition in the Bombay HC to quash FIR registered against them by Rhea Chakbraborty.
Rhea Chakraborty had filed an FIR against Sushant’s sisters and Dr Tarun Kumar – an associate professor of cardiology from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital – for preparing a “fake” prescription of anxiety medicines for him. In her FIR, Rhea had also alleged that the medicines provided by Priyanka and Meetu along with the joint given by house help might have led Sushant to take such drastic step.
The case was directly transferred to CBI who is probing the actor’s death case.
Meanwhile, Sushant’s sisters in their petition cited irregularities in Chakraborty’s statements on TV and in FIR and has said that it was an afterthought. They have also claimed that the FIR was only filed to divert the current investigation led by CBI.
The petition filed by advocate Madhav Thorat has sought a stay on the FIR, citing a 91 day delay in the registration. The petition also claimed that the prescription by Dr. Kumar is covered under the Telemedicines Guidelines and Telepsychiarty Operational Guidelines.
In her FIR, Rhea had claimed that all the medicines prescribed by Sushant’s sisters’ doctors are controlled under NDPS and can not be sold without due permission from the concerned authority.
Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty, on Tuesday, urged the Bombay High Court to dismiss the plea filed by Sushant’s sisters.
Rhea Chakraborty, in her reply filed through advocate Satish Maneshinde, said, “As per the prescription dated June 8, 2020, Dr. Tarun Kumar prescribed Nexito 5 mg, Librium 5 mg and Lonazep MD 0.5 mg to Sushant for anxiety.”
“That it is pertinent to note that the tablet Librium is Chlordiazepoxide which appears at Item No.36 in the list of psychotropic substances under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), while Nexito and Lonazep MD both contain Clonazepam which appears in the list of psychotropic substances under the NDPS Act. Sushant died merely five days after he obtained the said prescription wherein he was unlawfully prescribed psychotropic substances at the behest of sister [Priyanka] and Dr. Tarun Kumar,” she added.
