Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu was caught candid by Filmfare in an interview wherein she talked about some never heard before incidents. The Badla actress while being her fearless self told the magazine about her struggles and how she dealt with the deep rooted misogyny in the film industry.
It’s 2020 and women are still dragging other women down. Don’t believe us? Let’s hear Taapsee Out. “I was once replaced from a project because the hero’s wife didn’t want me to be a part of it,” she said.
Taapsee also revelaed that once a male actor asked the makers to change her introductory dialogues as he felt she could overpower him. When I refused to change it, they got a dubbing artiste to do it behind my back,” she said.
There was a time when I was told the hero’s previous film didn’t work, so you slash your price because we need to control the budget. There was some hero who wanted my introduction scene changed because he felt it would overpower his introduction scene. These are the things that have happened in front of me, I don’t know what’s happened behind my back. I decided that from now on, I will only take up films that will make me genuinely happy to go to work,” she added.
Over the last few years, Taapsee has done some commendable job in portraying female characters without overpowering other actors. Thanks to Taapsee, we have films like Pink, Naam Shabana and Thappad that speak volumes about women empowerment.
Meanwhile, Taapsee has a number of other female-centic projects in her pipeline which include Rashmi Rocket, Haseen Dilruba and Shaabash Mithu among others.
