Speaking to the YouTube channel Mitramhane, the talented actor recollected his experience, stating, “I had just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary. Everything seemed fine when we went on our trip to Australia and New Zealand. However, after a few days, I started experiencing difficulty in eating and felt nauseous. Deep down, I knew something was amiss. My brother offered me some medicine, but it provided no relief. After consulting multiple doctors, I was advised to undergo an ultrasound. As the doctor performed the scan, I sensed fear in his eyes, and that’s when I realized something was seriously wrong.”
Hope Amidst Challenges: Atul’s Determination to Recover
The diagnosis was daunting – a cancerous tumor measuring approximately 5 centimeters was discovered in Atul’s liver. Seeking reassurance, he asked the doctor about his chances of recovery, to which the doctor replied, “Yes, you will.” Unfortunately, Atul’s initial treatment did not go as planned. The incorrect procedure led to complications in his pancreas, resulting in further health issues. He found himself unable to walk properly and experienced speech difficulties. In this fragile state, doctors recommended waiting for a month and a half before deciding on surgery. The alternative was potentially long-term jaundice and liver complications. Determined to seek a better outcome, Atul sought a second opinion, opting for proper medication and chemotherapy.
Impact on Career: Missed Opportunities and Uncertain Future
Reflecting on the impact his illness had on his career, Atul shared his disappointment at missing out on participating in the international tour with the Kapil Sharma Show team. As a regular cast member, he was scheduled to play Sumona’s father but was unable to join due to his cancer treatment. Uncertainty looms over his future as he eagerly awaits confirmation of his complete recovery.
