Adah Sharma is garnering all the love and praise for her latest release The Kerala Story. The film recently crossed the landmark Rs 100 crore collection at the box office and continues raking in big numbers, even passing the crucial Monday test with flying colors. However, the film has also had its fair share of controversies with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee banning the film in the state. Now, Adah Sharma has criticised the same and said that banning a film without watching it is ‘not right’.
Adah Sharma on West Bengal Government banning The Kerala Story
Adah Sharma is currently hogging the limelight for The Kerala Story, which has emerged as the biggest hit of her career. Recently, she expressed her disappointment with the West Bengal Government banning the film in the state. She, in an exclusive conversation with News18, said that it is “a disrespect” to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
“How it is a win for us? For one week it has been banned now. I don’t understand why. I am not the authority on it, I don’t have a say. But I feel the censor board is the official jury for all movies, everywhere. If they decide, maybe people should watch it and then have an opinion on it, whether they like it or not. But banning without watching? I don’t know. That’s not right. Then we are not respecting the censor board at all,” Adah said.
The film was also recently banned in the UK and talking about the same, she said, “I don’t understand this either, banned in some places and delayed in others.”
‘The Kerala Story has become a movement
The actor further added that her film The Kerala Story has become a movement now. “It is not just a film to them anymore. There are people in South (Indian states) watching it and they are like, ‘I know someone who went through this’. It is almost like a movement now, like women’s empowerment. When I meet people now, I see that it is so much more to them now,” she said.
