One of the most talked-about controversies in Nayanthara’s career was her relationship with actor Silambarasan (Simbu). Relationship with Prabhu Deva
Nayanthara’s relationship with the director Prabhu Deva, who was previously married and had three children, sparked much debate. Prabhu Deva’s wife filed a lawsuit against him and Nayanthara, accusing them of dissolving their marriage. Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva rejected the charges, yet the story remained in the news for a long period.
Religious Conversion Controversy
In 2011, Nayanthara’s decision to convert to Hinduism from Christianity stirred controversy and divided opinions. Temple Controversy
Nayanthara was shooting for the Malayalam film Bodyguard near Ottappalam in 2009. On Vishu (Malayalam New Year), she went to Killikaavil temple in Kerala to pray. According to reports, she was seen wearing a salwar kameez, and temple officials decided her attire was not ‘acceptable enough’. Only ladies wearing saris were permitted to enter the temple. Nayanthara became enraged with the officials and attempted to force her way into the temple. According to accounts, worshippers gathered at the temple, surrounding her, and demanded that she apologize for attempting to violate temple laws.
Surrogacy Controversy
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan put an end to the controversy surrounding their surrogacy by submitting documentation on their legal marriage six years ago and surrogacy in December 2021 before new legislation went into effect to Health Department authorities. The internet was buzzing with Shivan’s post, with many questioning whether the pair obeyed the rules, given that commercial surrogacy is illegal in India as of December 2021. However, they quickly dispelled the rumours.
