Trigger Warning Movie Review: A new thriller starring Jessica Alba started streaming on Netflix. The audience was excited to watch this film because it is led by the actress only and she will be seen fighting the criminals aggressively and bravely. The actress steps into the world of action for the first time but does the movie live up to the expectations? Let’s check out the movie review to know about the movie.
Story
After her father passed away unexpectedly, Parker Calvo (Alba), a skilled Special Forces commando, had to return home quickly to the desert hamlet of Creation. As she takes over his neighbourhood pub, she discovers a conspiracy involving domestic terrorism. Parker must exact revenge on her father’s memory and uncover some self-evident truths in the little community where everyone knows everyone.
Direction
It was wonderful to learn that this was Indonesian director Mouly Surya’s major Hollywood debut before the movie even started. There is some intensity in the movie’s scenes, but it isn’t helped by Josh Olson, Halley Gross, and John Brancato’s shoddy writing. The awful conversations are only the cherry on top. A character calling himself Elvis exits the scene and someone else says, “Elvis has left the building.” Moreover, there isn’t much nuance, and the movie doesn’t help us understand the reclusive Parker. Rather, it blatantly presents red herrings.
Performance
Parker first appears in the movie while on a foreign assignment in an unidentified Middle Eastern nation. Other than her shadowy history, Parker’s knife abilities are about all the information we truly have about her. Alba plays a starring part in Trigger Warning, although she doesn’t do much with it. Mark Webber portrays Parker’s former sheriff and current town marshal, while Anthony Michael Hall plays the shady Senator Swann. Alba does slightly better in her moments with Gabriel Basso’s Mikey and Tone Bell’s Spider.
Conclusion
Trigger Warning is another failed attempt to make a big action thriller film to excite the audience. Neither this film excites nor entertains much. This film falls flat on several scenes and fails to leave an impact on the audience. Jessica Alba was excited to lead and deliver a marvelous performance but she didn’t do much in the character of a supersoldier. The predictable thriller is not good for you if you are a fan of action thrillers.
