Tunisha Sharma suicide case: Actor Sheezan Khan said on Monday that Tunisha Sharma, who died by suicide last month, had joined the dating app Tinder after the two had broken up. During a bail hearing in a Maharashtra court, Sheezan Khan’s lawyer claimed that Tunisha had contacted another individual, Ali, and gone on a date with him. Tunisha Sharma, who played Ali Baba in ‘Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul,’ was discovered dead on the set of the TV show on December 24. The next day, Sheezan Khan was arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the actor’s suicide. On Monday, a court in Vasai, Maharashtra’s Palghar district, heard Sheezan Khan’s bail application.
‘Tunisha joined Tinder after breakup’
Shilaendra Mishra, the counsel representing Sheezan, claimed during the hearing that “Tunisha, after the breakup, joined Tinder and met a person called Ali, with whom she supposedly went on a date. In the last 15 minutes (before she died by suicide), Tunisha spoke to Ali via video call,” Sheezan informed the court through his counsel. “So it was Ali, not me, that contacted her.”
“Tunisha opened up to Parth (co-actor) and showed him the rope. She was contemplating suicide. “When I overheard this talk, I intruded and contacted her family, informing them and requesting that they look after her,” Sheezan stated. He further claimed Tunisha was taking “dangerous and should not be administered without a doctor’s prescription” medications.
Tunisha Sharma suicide case: Sheezan spoke about changing her religion
Sheezan’s bail application also addressed charges that he was forcing Tunisha to speak Urdu and the controversy surrounding Tunisha’s photo, in which she was wearing a headscarf. “Another claim is that I forced her (Tunisha) to speak Urdu. I’m not fluent in the language. I memorize my lines (for the serial) based on the director’s request. “My sisters don’t speak Urdu either,” Sheezan stated.
“Fuss was made about (religious) conversion (but) the picture of her with hijab which are being distributed is from the serial. I’m not involved in it,” he continued. “Only because of my religion I have been jailed, they created this love jihad angle. They could have questioned me for two days straight and yet not found out the truth. There was no justification for me to be arrested. This would not have happened if I had not been Muslim. “There is no evidence against me,” said Sheezan Khan’s counsel.
