Upcoming Marvel Series: Season 2 of Loki has begun filming ahead of the show’s return to Disney Plus. The announcement was followed up by sightings of Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson looking very dapper in London as Loki and Mobius on an Easter egg-laden set. Then we saw our first look at Sophia DiMartino back as Sylvie in an interesting location.
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, also shared an update about when we can see the series during an MCU Comic-Con panel. He confirmed to fans that the show will be part of Marvel Phase 5 and will be released in summer 2023.
Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are confirmed to be returning. The first season’s writers Michael Waldron and Eric Martin are also set to return, although Martin is taking over head writing duties from Waldron.
Season 1 showrunner Kate Herron unfortunately announced her departure from the show, stating that she never planned to do a second season. “I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season,” she said, “I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all.”
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have also signed on as directors. According to reports, they will “co-direct a majority of the episodes for season two.”
The duo most recently directed two episodes of the Marvel series, Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Isaac as a superhero who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder.
