Varisu movie review: Thalapathy Vijay’s Pongal release Varisu is a treat for the actor’s fans and a complete family entertainer. The fact that Varisu was releasing alongside Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu had created a lot more excitement and anticipation.
With Thalapathy Vijay in the titular role, Varisu is a big-budget venture helmed by the popular Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally. It’s Vijay’s first direct outing in the Telugu film industry. However, only the Tamil version of the film has been released so far. The release of the Telugu version, which is titled Vaarasudu, is postponed to next week.
Family drama
Vijay Rajendran (Vijay) is the youngest among three brothers in Rajendran’s (Sarathkumar) family that is in the business of mining. His other two sons are Srikanth and Shaam, who play Jai and Ajay. The joint family breaks when the father asks him to leave home following some disagreement in business. One day, Rajendran finds himself diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and his world is shattered. Vijay comes back home after seven years to celebrate his father’s 65th birthday and this is when things change.
Vijay has given his best in the film. He has acted, danced and fought his heart out throughout the film. Credit also goes to director Vamshi Padaipally who has packed the movie with plenty of family sentiment, action, romance and comedy.
Humour, romance, high-octane action
The premier of the film was held in Chennai on January 10. According to the early reviews, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer is a wholesome package of family drama, humour, romance, high-octane action scenes, and colourful song sequences. Netizens found this Vamshi Paidipally directorial a complete entertainer. The loved Thalapathy Vijay for his unmatchable screen presence and onscreen charm.
The film is jointly scripted by director Vamshi Paidipally, Hari, and Ashishor Solomon. Rashmika Mandanna is in the female lead opposite Vijay. Other actors include Prakash Raj, R Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Srikanth, Sangeetha, and others in the supporting roles.
S Thaman has composed music for the film. Karthik Palani is the director of photography. Praveen KL handled the editing. Varisu is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banners Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema.
