Jamuna, a veteran Telugu performer who began acting over seven decades ago, died on Friday morning at her Hyderabad home of age-related diseases. She was 86 years old. Jamuna’s untimely death has shocked the Telugu cinema industry, with actor Mahesh Babu, filmmakers such as Bobby Kolli and Sreenu Vaitla, as well as politicians, sending poignant tributes on social media.
Andhra Pradesh CM pays tribute to actor Jamuna
“CM Sri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief on the loss of Jamuna garu, the film star of yesteryears and former MP,” said a condolence message on Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Twitter page. “Jamunia’s death brings to an end the golden age of Telugu movie performers, the CM stated, and he offered his condolences to the bereaved family members,” read the tweet.
Several Telugu celebrities paid their respects on Twitter. Mahesh Babu posted on Twitter, “I was saddened to learn of Jamuna garu’s death. Will remember her warmly for all of her famous roles and her enormous contribution to the business. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and loved ones.” The following was posted by producer Neelima Guna: “Rest in peace, famous actress Jamuna garu. Your portrayal of ‘Satyabhama’ will long be inscribed in our hearts. You will be remembered as a woman of grace and substance.”
Nandamuri Balakrishna wrote in Telegu
Vishnu Manchu, an actor, tweeted, “Jamuna Garu. One of the most gorgeous women in Telugu film, with a childish heart. “I will miss her terribly,” actor Nandamuri Balakrishna wrote in Telugu about Jamuna. Filmmaker Sreenu Vaitla “We have lost several legends recently, and it is regrettable that the renowned actress Jamuna garu is no longer. Her and her magnificent films will live on in our hearts forever. I pray for her family’s strength. Om Shanthi.” Filmmaker Bobby Kolli tweeted, “Saddened to learn about the passing of great actress Jamuna Garu. May her spirit rest in peace.”
