In a shocking incident at Chandigarh airport, newly elected MP and renowned actor Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable. The incident, which has sparked widespread discussion, reportedly stemmed from Ranaut’s past remarks perceived as disrespectful to farmers.
The Confrontation
Kangana Ranaut, who recently won the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, was preparing to board a flight to Delhi when the altercation occurred. The constable, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, has been suspended, and a first information report (FIR) has been lodged against her. According to sources, Kaur confronted Ranaut, allegedly slapping her and accusing her of disrespecting farmers, a reference to Ranaut’s controversial statements during the prolonged farmers’ protests against the now-repealed farm laws.
Captured on Camera
Mobile footage of the incident shows Ranaut being escorted by a security team towards the check-in area, where she appears to be in conversation with CISF officers. The CISF Commandant has taken notice of the situation and is currently questioning Kaur. Additionally, one of Ranaut’s aides has alerted the local police about the incident.
Kangana Ranaut’s Response
After landing in Delhi, Ranaut refrained from speaking to reporters but later addressed the incident in a video statement on social media platform X. She reassured her followers of her safety but expressed concerns about increasing terrorism in Punjab. Ranaut detailed the incident, stating that the female guard had waited for her at the security check-in, assaulted her, and hurled expletives, citing support for the farmers’ cause.
“I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross. She then came from the side and hit me. She started throwing expletives. I asked why she hit me. She said ‘I support farmers’. I am safe, but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” Ranaut said in her statement.
Constable’s Justification
The involved CISF constable, Kulwinder Kaur, gave an explanation for her actions, blaming them on personal issues over Kangana’s previous remarks on the protests by the farmers. She brought out a specific comment made by Ranaut in which it was implied that the farmers who were protesting were given ₹100 for their participation. Kaur disclosed that her mother had been participating in the protests and was quite outraged by Ranaut’s remark.
