An unpleasant incident occurred at Chandigarh Airport when Bollywood star and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut was reportedly hit by Kulwinder Kaur, a woman contable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The event has garnered a lot of attention and is thought to have been ignited with Kangana’s comments on Punjabi women who were participating in the farmers’ protest. Let’s examine the specifics of what transpired before and after this confrontation.
The Alleged Provocation
The altercation seems to have been ignited with Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on Punjabi women taking part in the farmers’ protest. Kulwinder Kaur stated in a video that her mother was one of the protesters, suggesting a personal connection to the cause that certainly fueled her anger.
Background of Kulwinder Kaur
A 35-year-old CISF constable from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab, Kulwinder Kaur had spent the previous two years at Chandigarh Airport. Her husband also serves in the CISF, further emphasising her family’s ties to the security services. Moreover, she is close to the current farmer movement since her brother, Sher Singh, is a well-known figure as the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee organisation secretary.
Immediate Suspension and Detainment
Kulwinder Kaur has been suspended from her job effective immediately after the confrontation. She has also been detained as a result of her acts. The CISF has formed a panel to further investigate the incident’s circumstances and has launched a probe into the subject.
Kangana Ranaut’s Response
“I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross. She then came from the side and hit me. She started throwing expletives. I asked why she hit me. She said ‘I support farmers’. I am safe, but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” Ranaut said in her statement.
