You will be surprised to know that the composer of this song is a shopkeeper selling peanuts on cycle. The name of this shopkeeper is Bhuban Badyakar. He hails from Kuraljuri village in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. He has a family of 5 people. Bhuban has a wife, 2 sons and a daughter. He makes a living by selling peanuts on a cycle.
Bhuban picks up his cycle every morning and goes out to the surrounding villages. He sells around 3-4 kg of groundnut. In Bengal, groundnut is called raw almond. From this sale of groundnut, he earns Rs 200-250 a day. For a family of 5 members, this earning is very less, but due to no other option, he is forced to do this work.
He adopted a singing style to increase his sales
For the last 10 years, he is adopting a singing style to sell groundnuts i.e. raw almonds. To improve his singing style, he composed the song Kachcha Badam on the popular Baul folk tune. This song of his became a hit and now various artists are remixing this song and dancing on it. Due to the popularity of his song, now the sale of groundnuts of Bhuban has also increased.
