Women’s Day horror: As the world gets ready to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, Tamil actor Anicka Vijayi Vikramman’s case has come as a rude shock. The case reminds us how even empowered women continue to be victims of domestic abuse and violence.
Anicka shared horrific accounts of her ex-boyfriend torturing her. She shared multiple photos on social media of her bruised face.
Anicka is a renowned actor in Tamil film industry, shared how her former boyfriend tortured and thrashed her. She took to Instagram and shared photos of her bruised face and wrote a long note, expressing what she went through. She also mentioned that she’s been receiving threats.
Violence against women
While Anicka’s story is enough to shock anyone, it must be highlighted that one in every three women worldwide experiences physical or sexual violence. Every day, 137 women worldwide are killed by a partner or member of their own family.
Love story gone horribly wrong
Anicka Vijayi Vikramman dropped a post revealing how her ex-boyfriend tortured her mentally and physically. She took to Instagram and dropped a series of pictures showing injuries on her face and a blood clot around the eye. In a note she said she was in love with a man named Anoop Pillai. But he has been abusing her mentally and physically for the past few years. She added that she and her family are getting threatening calls. The actress has also filed a Police complaint against her ex-boyfriend, who has gone underground.
She shared instances of how he’d choke and hit her. The caption of her post could be read, “Inspite of leaving these incidents behind I ve been receiving threatening calls and me and my family is being degraded continuously (sic).”
She further added, “The last pic was clicked before my ex boyfriend’s attack on me I was very excited to show my hair cut anyways it’s in the past. I ll start posting pics from this week I missed insta (sic).”
Foolish to believe him
An excerpt from her long wrote can be read, “I was beaten for the first time in Chennai. After that he fell at my feet and cried. I was foolish to believe him then. He assaulted me with the confidence that if I approached the police with a complaint about this incident, the police would ask me to let him go. The reason for that was that he had also paid the police (sic).”
Anicka Vijayi Vikramman is a popular face in the South film industry. She’s been a part of projects like and Vishamakaran, Ikk and Enga Pattan Sothu.
