You season 4 review: Season 4 of You is finally here and so is the serial killer Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg. However, this time he has got a new name, new city and a new target – who, interestingly, is not the murder victim.
As the season begins, the serial killer has fled California, where he killed his wife, burned down their house and left his infant son with a neighbour. He moves to London, masquerading as a literature professor. True to his character, he wears tweed jackets and occasionally quotes Edgar Allen Poe.
Hunter is hunted
He’s soon sucked into the socialite circle where the nepo-babies are numbed by drink and drugs, are spoilt, snobbish and insufferable. As a mysterious murderer dubbed as “the ‘Eat the Rich’ killer, starts bumping off the socialites, Joe finds himself framed by an unknown foe who knows his true identity and past crimes. In this season the hunter becomes the hunted in a whodunit mystery thriller.
Season 4 of You has Penn Badgley playing the victim. He lends the right amount of mystery and intrigue that keeps his character ever-engaging.
Charlotte Ritchie is endearing
Charlotte Ritchie gives depth to her character Kate, who appears an icy queen to the world, but harbours a soft interior. Tilly Keeper is delightful with a wealthy elite with a emotional touch, while Ed Speelers brings a subtle dexterity as Rhy Montrose.
This 10-part season drops in two halves. Five episodes stream from February 9, followed by five more (including Badgley’s directorial debut) on March 9.
You Season 4 Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix, while Part 2 will drop on Netflix on March 9.
