New Delhi: India recorded 44,643 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of covid cases to 3,18,56,757, while the active cases registered an increase for the third consecutive day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
The death toll incresed to 4,26,754 with 464 fresh fatalities.
The active cases comprise of 1.30 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was reported at 97.36 percent, showed the data updated at 8am.
An increase of 3,083 cases has been reported in the active COVID-19 caseload in the last 24 hours.
Almost 16,40,287 tests were conducted on Thursday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 47,65,33,650.
The daily positivity rate was noted 2.72per cent, which is less than three percent for the last 11 days. According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.41 percent.
3,10,15,844 people have recuperated from the disease and the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 percent, stated the data.
India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
