Covid-19: 45,903 new cases take India’s caseload to 85,53,657

India recorded fresh new 45,903 cases which took India’s totaly tally to 85,53,657. With 490 new deaths, the death toll from the virus have reached high to 1,26,611.

More than 79 lakh people have recovered from COVID-19, and there are now a little over 5 lakh active cases of coronavirus.There are 5,09,673 active cases in the country as of date, which comprise 5.96 percent of the total caseload, the data shared by health ministry stated.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and currently stands at 92.56 per cent.

On an average, 8.5 lakh to 9.5 lakh tests are being carried out in the country daily.

*Uttar Pradesh reported 2,247 new COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths on Sunday, according to state’s government data.

*Sikkim’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 4,245 as 50 more people tested positive for the infection while two more fatalities pushed the deaths to 78, an official said on Sunday.

*Record spike of 7,745 new coronavirus cases in Delhi take tally to over 4.3 lakh; toll rises to 6,989 with 77 more deaths: authorities

*Karnataka has reported 2,740 new cases of COVID-19 and 22 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 8,46,887 and the death toll to 11,391, the Health Department said yesterday. 

*Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,08,789 yesterday as the state reported a nearly five-month low of 152 new cases, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. 

*Brazil on Sunday said it registered 128 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and 10,554 new cases of infection.

*France on Sunday registered 38,619 Covid-19 cases and 270 related deaths over the past 24 hours, data from the health authorities showed.

*Another 20,572 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,192,013, according to official figures released on Sunday.

*President-elect Joe Biden will announce a 12-member task force to deal with the coronavirus pandemic in the United States.

Meanwhile, in a grim milestone, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 50 million mark, while the deaths have surged to 1,255,250, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

As of Monday morning, the total caseload and death toll stood at 50,316,476 and 1,255,250, respectively, it said.
