India recorded 78,524 fresh COVID-19 cases in last 24-hour, taking the total number to 68.35 lakh. With 971 deaths in the last 24 hours, the country’s fatality toll now stands at 1,05526.

This is the 8th consecutive day of India reporting less than 1,000 deaths in a single day. Number of infected cases per day has also seen a significant decline in the month of October.
According to the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total number of 75,000 people recuperate from covid-19 everyday. India’s recoveries are 6.3 times more than the active cases of the virus.
“India’s COVID recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise – from 50,000 in May to over 57 lakh in October. A high level of more than 75,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are 6.3 times the active cases (currently only 13.4 per cent of total cases),” the ministry tweeted.

*In a major breakthrough, a new study has claimed that vaccines will work against the G-strain mutatio of the coronavirus. The study led by an Indian orign scientist Prof SS Vasan has been published in ‘npj-Vaccine’, brought out by Nature.
*China has joined COVAX vaccine alliance on Thursday led by WHO. “We are taking this concrete step to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines, especially to developing countries, and hope more capable countries will also join and support COVAX,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement
